Legendary comedian Lenny Henry is coming to the Palace Theatre in Mansfield in October as part of his new national tour, Pop Life.
Lenny Henry takes the audience on a hilarious joyride through his life in music.
You’ll discover what it was like being born into a Jamaican household with so many pictures of Elvis Presley on the wall, Lenny says: “I thought he was a relative”.
Through his teenage years Lenny would hang out at the Queen Mary Disco in the Midlands where Northern Soul dancers high kicked with such ferocity.
“In one tune they could maim the entire room,” he remembers.
Sympathising with multimillionaire singer Adele’s ex-boyfriend – who dumped her just before she hit the big time, he says: “I bet he regrets that phone call.”
And on Hip Hop’s relentless obsession with women’s bodies Lenny adds: “If that girl in the 50 Cent video wants to be recognised, she’s gotta walk in the party, bum first.” Lenny Henry: Pop Life! promises to be a joyous, funny, freaky show about just how music goes better with everything.
And Lenny plays the piano during this performance – so you have been warned.
Lenny Henry will be performing his new show at the Palace Theatre in Mansfield on Tuesday 9th October at 7.30pm.
Tickets are on sale now, and are priced at £24.50 plus booking fee.
