Youth Music Theatre UK is currently holding it’s nationwide auditions for performers to be part of its forthcoming summer season, including shows at the Edinburgh Festival.
And they will be at Nottingham’s Midlands Academy of Dance & Drama on 18th January and Sheffield’s Montgomery Theatre on 1st February.
Youth Music Theatre UK (YMT) is the leading music theatre company for young people aged 11-21.
An Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation, YMT launched in 2003 and has since trained over 8,000 young people including Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, Charlotte Ritchie, Lauren Samuels, Jack Bence and many others.
YMT is heading to 24 cities across the UK and Ireland auditioning young people aged 11-21.
Successful auditionees will be placed into a two or three-week residential project to be in the cast of one of eight shows.
These are: Macbeth and Not The End Of The World, both in Edinburgh, Gulliver’s Travels in Belfast, Sweat Factory at Sadler’s Wells in London, Fagin in Bracknell, Dirty Stop Outs in Halifax, The Bachelor Girls in Plymouth and The Coorie Cave at the Aberdeen International Youth Festival.
The audition is a three-hour workshop led by a director, a musical director and a choreographer who will score participants on acting, singing, dancing and, most importantly, ability to work as a team.
Participants do not need to prepare anything.
There are two sessions at the Sheffield audition at 10am and 2pm.
Auditions can be booked online at www.youthmusictheatreuk.org/auditions or by calling 020 8563 7725.
