Your newspaper has teamed up with Sheffield’s Motorpoint Arena to give away tickets to see legendary singer-songwriter Mark Knopfler at the venue.

The 65-year-old, who shot to fame as the lead singer and guitarist for Dire Straits, brings his renowned live show to the Attercliffe venue on Sunday – and we have five pairs of tickets to giveaway.

Having last played there with the iconic rock band back in 1991, he is set to be the first artist to play the Arena’s new reduced capacity Steel Hall, which is housed within the Arena’s main hall and designed to bring the audience closer to the event.

To be in with a chance of winning a pair of tickets, enter our free draw by post, email, or Twitter – and include your full name and contact details, including a daytime phone number.

The deadline for entries is noon on Thursday, May 14, 2015. Winners will be notified that afternoon and tickets must be collected from The Star’s reception, York Street, Sheffield city centre, on Friday, May 15, between 9.30am and 4.30pm. Usual SNL rules and data terms apply.

To enter, send your name and address to Mark Knopfler competition, Jon Ball, Sheffield Newspapers, York Street, Sheffield S1 1PU, email with Mark Knopfler competition in the subject line, or follow @jon_ball33 on Twitter and Retweet any of his #StarCompKnopfler tweets.

And do not worry if you are not lucky enough to win – tickets are still available to the show.

Tickets purchased online at and through the ticket hotline on 0114 256 5656 are priced £55 and £49.50, including booking fee. Tickets purchased in person at the venue box office are priced £52.50 and £47.25, including booking fee.
