APPLES are in abundance at this time of year, and one village is taking full advantage by dedicating a whole day to the delicious fruit.
The annual East Markham Apple Day takes place on Sunday 2nd October - and entry is entirely free..
Run entirely by volunteers, the event was rated among the top ten apple days in the country by the Daily Telegraph in 2009.
Two venues will host activities on the day - East Markham Village Hall on Lincoln Road, and the Heritage Orchard.
You can sample some of the 300 varieties on display, taste apple recipes or even try picking your own in the orchard.
Lots of other refreshments will be on offer, including hot pork sandwiches and a cider bar.
Also on the day will be a children’s art competition, local history display, stalls selling recipe books, arts and crafts and entertainment from Rattlejags Morris.
This really is a great day out for all the family
Proceeds will be donated to Bassetlaw Hospice.
