A trio of Retford boxers showed they are learning to box clever with victories in their latest bouts.

Shaun Hennessey has led the way, beating J. Reynolds of Eastwood in the Retford Show.

He went on to beat S. Griffin of West Hull and Shaun was also expected to box at Lincoln last week.

Kenny Fisher boxed S. Anderson from East Leeds on the Retford Show card in what turned out to be a scrappy bout.

But Kenny took the victory and the East Leeds fighter wanted a rematch.

This took place two weeks later at Lincoln and again Kenny won, boxing far better than when he defeated his opponent at Retford.

Chris Hartley, who was let down at the Retford Show and had no fight, boxed at the end of November.

He took on C. Bellis from West Hull and won a close match on points.

Chris went on to box W. Ali of Elite ABC from Sheffield, a much more experienced fighter.

But that did not put off Chris as he took control from the start before putting his opponent down twice in the second round.

Chris has also been picked to represent the county, along with Shane Sandu, in a match against Derbyshire in mid January.

Retford&180#;s next show will be on April 5th 2002 at the Retford Town Hall. For more information, please telephone Gordon on 01777 817388.
