Young players taking part in the Lawn Tennis Association’s (LTA) Tennis for Kids programme visited the Nature Valley Open at the Nottingham Tennis Centre.

There they had the exciting opportunity to meet British No. 2 Heather Watson in a surprise meet and greet and further inspire them to get on court.

Tennis for Kids is the LTA’s largest initiative to get more children into the sport and is aimed at those who have never played before. Some of those new to the sport, and who started their first Tennis for Kids course onsite at the Nottingham Tennis Centre five weeks ago, were given the opportunity to meet Heather Watson, following her straight-set win over Danielle Lao and to watch some of their favourite players hit the court at the tournament.

Xander, 11, said: “It’s been really fun coming to watch the tennis and I feel special that Heather came down to meet us. I love playing tennis, especially volleying and I always look forward to getting on court with my friends.”
