Worskop’s Andy Bishop and Retford’s Calum Lawson put in a fine performance as the Andy Moore Autocentres Racing Team continued their busy season with another good result in the Elite Circuit Series Race at Lancaster on Saturday.

The four strong line-up consisted of Andy Bishop, Jono Dexter, Calum Lawson and an on form Adam Turner.

The fast Lancaster circuit produced a high paced race, with Lawson being the first rider to break away in the early group of riders.

Within a few laps, the peloton reformed, and it was to stay together for most of the race until the end.

After a three man breakaway had opened up a lead, it was left to Turner’s team mates to group together and form a lead-out and position him for the final bunch sprint.

Turner did not disappoint, and crossed the line comfortably in front of the pack to take the points.

Team mates Dexter and Bishop finished sixth and ninth, rounding off a satisfactory performance for the lads from Staveley.

Team Manager Andy Moore praised his riders for their efforts, saying: “The lads stuck together and ensured we had numbers in the sprint at the end.

“Andy did the job and led Adam out perfectly to win the bunch gallop. Adam certainly put a big effort in, as the strain of the last sprint broke a rear wheel spoke, that gives you some idea of how hard he pushed at the end.

“To have a trio in the top ten in a race with Elite level riders is impressive stuff, and it’s a solid foundation going into next season.”

The result pushes Turner up the Category 2 rankings table into second place in the East Midlands Region, just rewards for his dedication throughout the season.

The team’s racing programme continues for the next few weeks, with two more rounds of the Lancaster series to contest, along with a selection of closed circuit events running into November.
