Wheelers elect five officers

Retford and District Wheelers have elected five members to office positions for the coming year.

At the cycling club’s recent annual general meeting, Paul Austin was elected chairman and British Cycling secretary.

Alan Hazard will fill the role of treasurer, while general secretary and cycling time trials secretary will be David Jarvis.

James Storey is the club run captain, and Tony Siveter the press secretary.

Caistor in the Lincolnshire Wolds was the destination for the club run last Sunday.

Taking a route which avoided major roads, 11 riders made good time for a lunch break at a Wolds cafe before taking an indirect journey home.

Next Sunday’s club run will be the monthly opportunity for new riders to join with the regulars for a ride of about 30 miles over a flat route, which will include a cafe stop.

Meet in Retford market square at 9am.
