Tiny Ordsall martial artist Holly Frost picked up a bronze medal from her first tournament of the year.

The Taekwondo fighter, who turned seven in December, was in action at the NTC Open Taekwondo Championships, at Wildcat Arena in Nottingham last weekend.

Her second year of competition began with a long day.

But she came home with a reward, in the shape of a bronze, after losing out to a quick fighter from Copenhagen, Denmark.

The Ordsall Primary pupil has moved up a weight class this year, to 23kg.

Dad Jason said the step up didn’t seem to bother her.

He said: “Holly was thrilled with the result after being apprehensive about being in a higher weight,”

“She had a very good year last year and has manged to secure sponsorship from Elite Workwear in Gainsborough, and this is a good start to what is going to be a very busy first few months of the year.”

“We’re very proud of her.”

She competes in her first international competition in Tongeren, Belgium on 1st March, before the Dutch Masters and local events.

The youngster trains at Scorpion Taekwondo in Doncaster.
