Eighteen Retford Athletics Club athletes took on the 33rd Worksop Half Marathon on Sunday, in blustery conditions.
The Retford contingent joined over 1,800 other runners at one of the country’s most highly rated half marathons.
First home for Retford was Ben Harris who finished seventh with a time of 1:16:53.
Nick Kendall (1:28:22) finished just ahead of Jonathan Hewitt in 1:28:29.
In fourth for Retford was David Corbett who took over four minutes off his 2013 time with 1:29.07. Andy Kinsley finished in 1:36:06 followed by Christopher Wright 1:44:16.
First Retford lady home was Becky Chadwick in 1:50:26, followed by Louise Richardson who put in a great performance to finish with a personal best of 1:51.44.
Christopher Windle also claimed a PB with 1:53:00.
Lynn Whelan and Karen Wilkinson both broke the two hour mark with 1:57:04 and 1:57:05 respectively
John Sinclair was hoping to help Erika Tasker break two hours but just missed out by a few seconds.
Dawn Hollingsworth finished in 2:01:32 and rounding off for Retford was Terry Lovett who finished with 2:11:30, Julie Jordan 2:11:39 and determined runs from Linda and Christopher Colclough in a joint time of 2:27:21.
Special thanks also go to Derek Marsh, from the club for marshalling at the event.
A number of Retford AC juniors also took part in the Worksop Half Marathon Fun Run.
Attention now turns to the 2015 Retford Half Marathon sponsored by Jones & Co Solicitors, organised by Retford Athletic Club and held on Sunday 8th March 8th.
The start and finish will once again be at Retford Oaks Academy on Babworth Road in Retford which offers great facilities for runners and their supporters.
With all 700 places taken before the day in 2014 and over 100 entrants already signed up to the 2015 event, it is again set to be a sell-out.
