A three man team from Retford and District Wheelers took in a training session at Manchester Velodrome on Sunday.
Promoted by the League of Veteran Racing Cyclists, the local trio were put through a vigorous programme, including a 60-lap paced ride behind a derny motorbike.
Elsewhere the club run was well attended with 17 riders assembled in two groups for the ride to Whisby, the social group attracting several new riders.
The club ride this Sunday is to Saundby via the two Trent bridges of Dunham and Gainsborough, a distance of about 40 miles.
The slower group will be riding through some of the Trent side villages to the west of the river and will eventually make the same rendevouz for refreshment at Rosie’s cafe.
Both groups are to meet in Retford market square at 9.30am.
New and inexperienced riders welcome.
