Rain halts tense Orsdall Bridon affair

The rain prevented a tense finish at Ordsall Bridon on Saturday, as their game against Notts Academy was abandoned after 86 overs.

The hosts won the toss and opted to bat first, but an opening stand of 69 was followed by a minor collapse, as they slipped to 116 for 6.

James Brice (33) and Aqab Ahmed, who hit seven sixes on his way to 71 from 51 balls ,helped raise the total to 230 for 9 from their 49 overs.

The Academy reply got off to a slow start, as they fell to 26 for 3.

Hassan Azad (64) and Adam Tillcock (63) got the innings back on track with a stand of 103.

Paul Franks and Simon Webster had moved the score to 197 for 5 with 13 overs remaining when the weather delays brought proceedings to an end.

This weekend Ordsall Bridon continue their Notts Premier campaign at Caythorpe.

In the Bassetlaw League, North Wheatley with Leverton beat Notts and Arnold Amateur in the Championship by eight wickets.

Everton lost to Clumber Park in Division One, but Retford had a winning draw against Cuckney II.

Retford II were 50 for 1 against Teversal when the game was abandoned.
