Gainsborough and Morton Striders AC were in action at Retford, Lincoln and Scunthorpe last weekend.
Eleven Striders made the short journey to the Retford half-marathon where eight of the team took full advantage of the relatively warmer conditions of late and more importantly, the lack of a strong wind, to set personal best times.
Leading the Striders home for the first time was Mark Rodgers in a new personal best of 1:29:34.
Next home was Matt Huteson, again in a personal best of 1:30:04 which was an improvement of over three minutes.
Third Strider home was the evergreen Phil Marsland (V55) in a splendid 1:32:32.
Hanna Bennett ran her first race for the Striders in 1:54:32, a PB.
Carl Currie, who ran a personal best of 1:39:06 expressed his appreciation for the support from the crowd espceially from the Striders as.
He said: “Every Strider that saw each other gave words of encouragement to their teammates.”
“It just goes to show the great team spirit, regardless of ability.”
“It was outstanding.”
Other personal best times were set by Glenn Peniston 1:49:24, Rhiddian Edwards 1:52:13, Dan Gleave 1:53:42 and Vikki Hearn 1:55:26.
The other two Striders involved were Simon Hunt 1:49:24 and Mick Wood 1:58.
Meanwhile Elliott Clark finished second at the Boultham Park parkrun in Lincoln with a new personal bestof 18:10.
Emma Housham also registered a PB at the Central Park course in Scunthorpe in 31:41.
Striders are gearing up for the Gainsborough and Morton 10k Road Race this weekend. The event starts at 10am on Sunday morning.
