A WORKSOP youngster has coasted home to a national open water swimming title at Rother Valley Country Park.
Charlie Humphries became the British Gas National Open Water champion when he beat swimmers from around the country, cheered on by friends and family.
The 13-year-old had a winning margin of 30 seconds, delighting his Worksop Dolphins team-mates and coaches.
Humphries is a member of the Notts County Swim Squad and trains at Worksop’s Valley Leisure Centre swimming pool most days.
His win was followed by a gold medal presentation by Ray Gordon, president of the ASA, at Ponds Forge, Sheffield.
Delighted mum Karen told the Guardian: “We are very proud of Charlie’s achievement, he is very dedicated to the sport and on the day he performed to a very high standard.”
