Multi option ride

A downpour of freezing rain didn’t stop Gainsborough Aegir Cycling Club from riding in their multi option ride on Sunday.

Six riders took part on two different ride distances, 15 and 38 miles.

The riders departed Roseway in Gainsborough town centre riding as one group, heading through Laughton Woods.

Arriving at Wildsworth the riders split into two groups, Daniel Nicholson, David Chaffey, Mark Clark and James Hewitt returning home via East Stockwith, Walkerith and Morton.

Trevor Halstead and Loll Dickenson headed north to Keadby Bridge, returning home on the west side of the River Trent.

Riding conditions were extremely difficult with a very strong south west wind a heavy rain.

The riders were on a mixture of mountain and touring cycles.

New rider James Hewitt, 16, enjoyed the short ride on his mountain bike.

The next event is on 2nd February, a reliability ride of 20miles or 50k, starting at 9am from 21 Portland Terrace in Gainsborough.

New riders are welcome.

The club’s annual dinner and prize presentation night will be held on 22nd February in The Weston Rooms, Gainsborough.

The guest speaker for the evening is Gary Wright, a personal trainer and sports physiotherapist based at Outklas Fitness in East Drayton.

Tickets cost £20 and can be obtained from Trevor Halstead at Church Street Cycles 102-104 Church Street Gainsborough.

All are welcome.
