Losing draws for local sides

RETFORD and Ordsall Bridon both suffered losing draws at the weekend, in the penultimate Bassetlaw Championship games of the season.

At Cricket Field Lane Retford took just eight points, and Anston 17.

The visitors made 228 for 7 from their innings, before Retford made 191 for 8 thanks in part to 53 runs from John Musgrove and 46 from team-mate Paul Singleton.

At Ordsall North Wheatley with Leverton took the lion’s share, as they reached 267 in their innings and restricted Ordsall Bridon to 210 for 7.

For North Wheatley Jon Loates made 93 runs, while Ordsall’s top scorer was Rob McLeod with 60.

Ordsall remain fifth in the Championship table, with North Wheatley one place below them and Retford down in ninth.

In the final round of games on Saturday Retford travel to Farnsfield, Ordsall Bridon are at Thoresby Colliery and North Wheatley with Leverton host Glapwell.

In Division One Everton were skittled for just 98 runs in their loss to Mansfield and Pleasley.

Ordsall Bridon II lost out to Clipstone by four wickets, despite 90 runs from Simon Bingham.

Retford II had a losing draw with Teversal, who made a mammoth 354 for 2 and kept Retford’s innings to 154 runs but took only four wickets.

Division Four’s Bawtry had a winning draw at Nottingham City Hospital against Basford Mill.

North Wheatley with Leverton’s second side had a winning draw at home to Misterton, Bawtry II were beaten by Farnsfield III by seven wickets and Blyth lost by 87 runs to Todwick at Oldcoates Road.
