Bassetlaw’s first sprint triathlon race will take place on Sunday, at Worksop Leisure Centre.
The BPL managed venue will play host to the 400m swim, before a 21km bike ride out of Worksop and into surrounding villages, along with a 5km run that starts and finishes at the leisure centre.
Bassetlaw Triathlon Club, an organisation set up as part of the legacy of the 2012 Olympic Games in London, have set out their stall to introduce the sport to the region’s residents.
Club official Gavin Hodgson said: “Our aim as a club is to introduce 250 people to the sport.”
In Sunday’s sprint triathlon, entrants will have electronic chips so they can print out breakdowns of their performance.
The firsts swimmers will set off at 8am.
