Trampolinist Giorgia Dent put a year of set backs behind her at the British Championships 2011 in Birmingham.
The 11-year-old came an impressive 10th despite having only competed once this year due to a back injury which stopped her from training for four months.
Roughly around the same time, her coach Naomi Johnson, of Dukeries Academy, trapped her hand in a trampoline whilst setting up for competition.
She had to be rushed to hospital to have emergency surgery to try and save her fingers. After months of trips to the hospital, Naomi is nearly back to full fitness.
Giorgia’s dad Jason said he was putting it down to a bad experience.
“Things couldn’t have got any worse at the early part of this year,” he said.
He added her achievement at the British Championships was “outstanding”.
