Retford GC’s ladies bronze team continued their winning form away at Sherwood.
The result was a close call with Retford winning 4-3.
This puts Retford in a strong position for the league, with only Beeston to play at home on August 14.
Meanwhile, Claire Guest was the winner of the Victory Cup medal competition which on July 21, with a gross score of 97, net 71.
Karen Hutchinson was in second place with the lowest gross score of the day at 86, net 73.
In third place was Sue Boyes with gross 93, net 73.
• Retford men played for the Members’ Cup on July 19.
It was won after count back by S Harris who shot a gross score of 84, net 68.
P Ashton came second with a gross score of 77, net 68 and Ivan Bennet came third with a gross score of 77, net 68.
The lowest gross score of the day was made by I Lindley with gross 75.
This week’s midweek medal was played on Friday and it was won by John Willoughby after count back with a gross score of 80, net 66.
In second place was MA Brown with gross score of 78 also giving a net score of 66.
The lowest gross score of 70 was shot by C. Naylor who came fifth in the competition with a net score of 69.
• Retford Juniors played for the Ron Purdy Trophy on July 18.
R Marshall took the trophy with a gross score of 80, net 69, making a total of 10 pars in the round.
G Cordell was in second place with gross 100, net 72. E Storey was in third place with gross 83 net 73.
• Retford is host to an open ladies Am competition on Friday, July 31.
Teams of four ladies from clubs across the region will compete for prizes with two from four to count on all holes except the par-5 tenth when all four count.
