The past week has been a busy one for the Blades, with two friendlies, two new signings, and a new sponsor.
United’s first pre-season test came last Saturday against Sheffield FC. A young Blades side earned a 1-1 draw courtesy of a goal from new signing Danny Philliskirk.
On Tuesday evening a more experienced United team travelled to Worksop and earned a 1-0 win, Corey Gregory scoring the only goal of the game.
The Blades line up at Sandy Lane featured German trialists Alexander Kruk and Oliver Stang.
Blades fans will have been pleased to see our attacking options bolstered this week.
Winger Ryan Flynn has arrived at Bramall Lane as has striker Chris Porter.
The latter has an excellent goalscoring record in League One, and there will be plenty of competition for places upfront after hot prospect Jordan Slew signed a contract extension keeping him at the club until 2013.
Fears that Sheffield United could go into the season without a shirt sponsor have been put to bed after the club announced a groundbreaking sponsorship deal that will see Westfield Health and Gilders sponsor both Sheffield clubs.
The Blades squad head to Malta this week to continue their preparations for the new season and they will be put through their paces in the Mediterranean heat.
It is very early days but so far our pre season seems to be going reasonably well which will hopefully bode well for when we kick off the new season at Oldham on 6th August.
