Snowden hits five goals on Retford debut


Snowden made a five-goal debut as Retford United Ladies opened their campaign with a triumphant 9-1 win over Sherwood Ladies at Cannon Park.

First on the scoresheet was Ellis followed closely by new signing Snowden.

Miller got one of her own and minutes later Neale added to the tally.

Ellis bagged her second and Snowden followed up with two more to seal her hat-trick before Sherwood grabbed a consolation goal just before the break.

The second half was a more relaxed affair, Snowden adding two more after great passing across the park.

Retford comprised Tong, Graham, Baker, Wilson, Baines, Bennett, Tindall, De Carolis, Miller, Wall, Clayton, Cicchirillo, Neale, Ellis and Snowden.

The game was sponsored by Claire Fearn from Hair Kabin.

Retford’s U16s played their first home game of the season last Sunday and emerged clear 11-0 winners against Sprotboro & Cusworth.

The squad were, Varley, Farrow, Ferguson, Singh, Phillips, Towell, Bennett, Baines, Hunt, Whitmore and Voase.

Their next game is at home to Sherwood Boys in the County Cup.
