A group of Retford girls beat over 50 teams from all over England to bring home a prestigious national football title.
Retford United Under 15 girls followed up their ESF regional festival victory in May with victory in the national finale at Warwick University’s football centre, a training facility used for the London Olympics.
Over 50 teams from all over England had entered the competition, and now it was down to the regional winners to battle it out to be crowned National ESF champions.
The Retford girls were unbeaten all day, scoring 11 goals through Amber Ellis (5), Chloe Waugh (4), Leanne Neale and Ellie Baines, and were eventually named champions after defeating Essex team L.D in the final.
Manager Simon Brammer, captain Chloe Waugh, and the squad of Amelia Huddlestone, Lily Baker, Maisy Whittall, Bethany Bennett, Ellie Baines, Macey Wilson, Ella Mowbray, Leanne Neale and Amber Ellis, have now lifted five trophies this season.
A club spokesperson said: “Many thanks to the families and friends for making it a weekend to remember, your support as always is much appreciated.”
