Worksop man sentenced for attacking 16-year-old

A vicious assault outside Worksop Fire Station which was caught on CCTV has been shown in court today (Tuesday 23rd April 2013).

The footage showed 24-year-old Wayne Maxwell jump out of his car and attack a teenager.

Nottingham Crown Court heard that the victim sustained a broken nose after being punched and kicked.

Maxwell, of Stillwell Gardens, Worksop, was due to stand trial by jury today but admitted the offence at the last minute.

He pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm on the evening of 12th August last year.

The dramatic CCTV images show a bare-chested Maxwell approach three youths outside the fire station on Eastgate.

Two punches are thrown at the victim, who was 16 at the time, and he is also kicked.

The other two youths fled the scene. But a group of firefighters came out to help the victim who was left on the floor.

Judge James Sampson sentenced Maxwell to nine months in prison, suspended for 18 months.

He must also complete 150 hours of unpaid work in the community.
