Award-winning blues rock star Joe Bonamassa brings his band to Sheffield next month.
And to make sure fans don’t miss out the Guardian has teamed up with organisers to offer one lucky reader a pair of tickets.
Joe Bonamassa and his touring band will play at the Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield on Saturday 24th March as part of a major UK arena tour.
Fresh off his successful European tour with side-project super group Black Country Communion, and rave reviews of BCC’s 2 album, Joe’s forthcoming UK solo tour will see him perform material from his current studio album Dust Bowl plus songs from his vast catalogue of albums including A New Day Yesterday, The Ballad of John Henry, Sloe Gin, and Black Rock.
Joe will also preview some new songs from his forthcoming studio album due for release in late May 2012.
His band includes Carmine Rojas on bass, Rick Melick on keyboards and Tal Bergman on drums.
Joe’s abilities were given belief from a very young age. He was given his first guitar aged just four and within three years he could play the tunes of Jimi Hendrix note for note and at just 12 that instinctive playing saw him opening for blues legend B.B. King.
The guitarist and singer now averages 200 shows each year.
His return to Sheffield – his largest South Yorkshire show since his sold-out visit to Magna Science Adventure Centre two years ago.
Joe follows his 2009 Live From The Royal Albert Hall DVD with a new Blu-ray and DVD release to coincide with the tour, namely Joe Bonamassa: Beacon Theatre – Live From New York (out 26th March). It includes renditions of Slow Train, from his 2011 album Dust Bowl, and fan-favourites Cradle Song, Blue & Evil and Mountain Time, plus appearances from a string of special guests.
Tickets for the show are priced £30, £40 and £50, a booking fee may apply. They are available at www.motorpointarenasheffield.co.uk, on 0114 256 5656 and at the arena box office.
