British Transport Police have confirmed they are not treating the death of man who was hit by a train at Retford station as suspicious.
The incident occurred just before 10am this morning (Wednesday, 13th August).
The man has yet to be formally identified and investigations into the incident are continuing.
But police say that at this stage they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
“We can confirm that we are not treating the death of this man as suspicious,” said a British Transport Police spokesman.
“Once we have formally identified the man, we will inform his family.”
“We will now assist in the compilation of a report for the coroner.”
Services through Retford, including those of the main London to Edinburgh East Coast line, have been affected all day with some journeys delayed by up to 90 minutes.
Network Rail have confirmed that all lines through the station are now open again but there will still be knock-on residual delays of up to 40 minutes that will affect some rush-hour journeys.
