A female is in hospital with ‘serious’ injuries after being knocked by a police car in Worksop town centre this evening.
The incident happened on Memorial Way just before 4.30pm.
A Nottinghamshire Police spokesman has now confirmed that a police car was involved, after speculation on social media during the day.
The female has been taken to hospital in Sheffield for treatment.
The incident has also been reffered to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC), which is understood to be standard practice.
All major roads towards the town centre were cordoned off and police officers were in attendance at the scene.
The incident forced motorists to turn around and take routes back away from the town centre during rush hour. Bus services were also affected.
Details of the victim have not yet been released.
Inquiries are on-going.
