Fast food giant McDonald’s has denied rumours it wants to build a drive-thru restaurant at Todwick.

Tongues had been wagging among locals, fuelling a rumour that a new restaurant was in the pipeline.

It was thought the company had its eye on land just off the new A57 dual carriageway.

But a McDonald’s spokesman told the Guardian this week that it was not looking to build new premises in the local area.

Work on the revamped road is due to be finished in Spring 2014.

Motorists are already using part of the new road between the M1 and Todwick, while contractors Ringway work with Rotherham Council to complete the eastbound carriageway.
