Thoresby Estate has been forced to close its popular Sunday market due to financial difficulties.

Estate bosses said the market, which has operated for more than twenty years, had become ‘unsustainable’ due to high business rates.

Ben Perry, Thoresby commercial and leisure manager, said it was ‘extremely disappointing’ that something beyond the Estate’s control had forced the closure of the market.

He added: “Thoresby Estate would like to sincerely thank its customers, traders and staff from all over the region for their support of the market over the years, and for their help in generating our little community.”
