School set to break record

Pupils at Rampton Primary School in Retford have signed up to take part in an attempt to break the world record for the most people singing and signing simultaneously.

The event has been organised by SignHealth and Rampton Primary School will join 500 other schools nationally in the Guinness World Record attempt in February 2012.

SignHealth was set up in 2005 and is the national healthcare charity for deaf people. Earlier this year 94,489 children took part in SignHealth’s sign2sing 2011 event and smashed the Guinness World Records™. The previous record was 13,418.

SignHealth chief executive Steve Powell said the charity hopes to smash this years world record with the attempt in 2012.

“On 8th February 2012 we are once again inviting schoolchildren to take part in the world record attempt for the most people signing and singing a song at the same time,” he said.
