Retford: Police appeal over canal assault

Notts Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a man was pushed into Chesterfield Canal in Retford.

A 65-year-old was walking by the canal tow path, which runs alongside North Road, at about 7pm on Saturday 13th July, when a group of four men walked towards him.

One of the men then pushed him into the canal.

Although he was unhurt, the victim was left shaken.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the assault, recognises a description, or who has any information about it to contact them.

The men were all white, and two of them were about 6ft tall.

One was about 25 years old, thin with a muscular build and short hair, and was wearing wet trousers and no top.

A second man was about 28-30 years old and was more muscular - also not wearing a top.

If you have any information contact PC David Insley, of Retford Police Station, on 101 extension 807 7450 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
