Plans for a new 24 hour Burger King drive-thru restaurant in Worksop have been submitted- potentially creating 40 jobs for the area.
If the proposals are given the green light by Bassetlaw District Council, the new fast food joint will be built on the existing car park of Tesco on Gateford Road.
Burney Midlands Ltd, who have submitted the application, said the site would particularly benefit workers in the vicinity and provide a temporary stop for motorists destined for Worksop town centre or other major road networks.
A statement by the company reads: “We believe this site would make an excellent Burger King drive-thru. In terms of suitability and benefits of the development, it will provide residents with convenient access to refreshments and meals that are within walking and cycling distance.
“There is also a wide variety of employment uses in the immediate locality, in particular at Dukeries Industrial Estate, which are within walking distance of the proposed site. The workforce and visitors would benefit from such a use being on their doorstep.
“A drive through facility is not usually a destination use, but rather a temporary stop. In this case, the facility is situated next to in a logical location in close proximity to other retail units and major road networks.”
“Burger King is also a significant employer and would employ 40 members of staff, 20 full-time and 20 part-time. This is a very high employee intake compared to other commercial units.”
