Children from Kiveton Park and Wales Pre-school Daycare toddled their way to raise money for disadvantaged children in an event held on Saturday.
Youngsters and parents took to the trail around the Kiveton Community Woodland in the Barnardo’s Big Toddle with over 30 people taking part.
“We had a lovely morning and it was a perfect day for a walk,” said committee treasurer and one of the organisers, Nikki Blakey. “We had over 30 people join us on the day and it took us about one hour to complete the trail which is about a mile long.
“Some of the children also came in fancy dress. At the end of the walk, all the children received a rosette and sticker for taking part as well as a well-earned drink and snack.”
The pre-school is a charitable organisation run by a committee of parents and is open every day from 7.45am-5.45pm from St John’s Hall on Wales Road.
The committee organise a number of fundraising events throughout the year. Sponsorship raised from The Big Toddle will be split between Barnardo’s and the group.
“We are still collecting the money in but people can check out our Facebook page for a sponsorship update,” added Nikki.
A family disco is the next event on the calendar which runs on Saturday 13th July from 6pm at St John’s Hall. It will cost £5 for a family ticket or £2 per adult and £1 for children.
Tickets are available in advance from the Pre-school.
