An 11-year-old boy recently presented his primary school teachers with a Guardian Rose for helping him with his studies.

St Augustine’s teachers Natalie Houghton, Helen Blades, Chris Kelly amd Mel Sanderson were given the rose at the end-of-year leavers’ assembly by pupil James Parsons.

The youngster has Dandy-Walker Syndrome which affects his speech and learning.

His mum Sharon said: “They have supported him throughout his time at the school.

“They have always been there for him.”

James, who starts at St Giles in September, said the teachers always said ‘hello’ to him a morning which made him smile.

“They will be greatly missed, he has known them since nursery” Sharon added.
