Kings Park in retford has been named as one of the best parks in the country - for the fourth year.
It has received the Green Flag Award, a sign to visitors that the park is well-maintained and well-managed, with excellent facilities.
This year’s green flag marks the fourth year in a row that Kings Park has won the prestigious award and highlights Bassetlaw District Council’s continued commitment to the importance of green space in our communities.
“Kings Park is a fantastic example of how quality green open spaces benefit a community,” said coun Julie Leigh, portfolio holder for environment and leisure.
“This year’s award is a great achievement because we have to demonstrate a continuous improvement in the standards of the park.”
“With the new tennis courts, bowling green, community gardens and the rose garden, Kings Park is a space that the people of Retford can be justifiably proud of and I am delighted it has once again received the recognition it deserves.”
“This has been a real team effort and I would like to thank our Parks and Open Spaces Team and the Friends of Kings Park Group for their efforts in securing this award.” Phil Barton, Green Flag Plus Partnership chairman said: “I would like to congratulate this year’s winners, who have worked hard throughout the year to keep their parks and green spaces at a high standard and ensure they are pleasant and enjoyable spaces for the whole community.”
