ROTHERHAM’S Clifton Park has been named one of the best in the country.

The park has won the Heritage and Conservation Award in the 2012 Landscape Institute Awards - a prestigious competition run by the royal chartered body for landscape architects.

The park’s restoration was completed this year after an eight-year project.

Judges praised it as ‘a benchmark of excellence in its field’ as the restoration scheme resulted in the conservation of many of the park’s historic features, including the bandstand, cenotaph and garden areas, as well as the opening of striking new attractions such as the Water Play, Garden House and Walled Garden.
