A Dinnington pervert has been jailed for four years for attempted child abduction and possession of indecent images of children.

Simon Goad, 46, of Riverside Court, Dinnington, initially appeared before a judge at Sheffield Crown Court on 22nd February.

At that hearing he admitted attempting to abduct a child as well as nine other charges of possessing indecent images of children.

Sheffield Crown Court, pictured, heard that on the afternoon of 21st September last year, at around 5.30pm, a seven-year-old girl was riding her bike on Mutual Street in Hexthorpe, Doncaster.

While she was there, Goad approached the youngster and asked her to get into his car, which he said was parked close by.

The girl refused to go with him, and ran to her house near by, where she went inside and informed her mother what had happened.

The police were called and later arrested Goad. During his arrest, officers conducted a search of his home address where his computers were seized.

The computers were analysed by specialist officers as part of the investigation.

They discovered more than a thousand indecent images of children on the computers.

The images were graded from one to five in levels of seriousness - level five is the most serious level.

Speaking after the sentecing, DC Andy Gray said: “We were able to identify, locate and arrest Goad almost immediately, therefore preventing him from committing any other offences against this young girl or any other child.”

“Now that Goad has been sentenced, I hope that both the girl and her family are able to put this ordeal behind them and move forward with their lives.”
