Bill Harrington has ended his year as captain of Worksop Golf Club by presenting a cheque for more than £900 to his chosen charity, Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice.
During his year as captain, Bill encouraged members and visitors to support the North Anston-based hospice thought a variety of initiatives and in the end, a total of £959.90 was raised.
Bill presented the cheque to Mel Rose, the hospice’s community fundraiser for the Worksop area.
Bill said: “I am very pleased to have encouraged people to support this very worthwhile charity which does such a fantastic job looking after children and families in this area.”
The hospice provides support for children and young adults and their families in north Notttinghamshire, South Yorkshire, north east Derbyshire and north
Lincolnshire areas who are affected by life threatening and life limiting medical conditions.
The hospice requires £4 million per year to provide these services and 90 per cent of this amount has to be met by voluntary contributions.
