Bonfire Night celebrations in Retford

THIS YEAR'S Bonfire Night is set to go off with a bang in Retford with a host of firework displays in the area.

Cricket Club have combined to hold a firewRetford United Football Club and Retford ork spectacular at Cannon Park on Leverton Road on Saturday, 3rd November.

Organisers say that after last year's success, the event has got even bigger with children's rides and amusements on the site, as well as live music from three acts, Gaucho, M101 and female vocalist Laura Cox.

And some tempting prizes will also be up for grabs in a fancy dress competition for children aged up to 11 years old

To entertain crowds, a tombola, teddybear hunt and facepainting will be on offer.

This will all lead up to the climax of the night, a professionally arranged and sequenced firework display.

Gates to the popular event, which is in support of Retford Lions and Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance, open at 6pm with a children's fireworks display at 7.30pm before the massive finale at 8pm.

Admission is 5 for adults, 3 for concessions and senior citizens, while under fives go free.

And due to limited parking, Kettlewells shuttle buses will run between Retford Bus Station and the ground from 6pm. This is being provided free of charge with a fast track entry when at the ground. Organisers have advisable people to use this service as parking will be strictly limited at the event.

Then on Sunday 4th November, Retford Rugby Club will be hosting a bonfire and firework display at the Rugby Ground on Ordsall Road.

Gates open at 5.30pm and the bonfire will be lit at 6.15pm.

Then a children's fireworks display will begin at 7.15pm while the main event will go off with a bang at 7.30pm.

There will be a licensed bar, refreshments, a small fun fair and free parking. Tickets cost 1 under 13s and 3 for adults.

And on Monday 5th November, a bonfire and fireworks extravaganza will be held at the Brownlow Arms in High Marnham.

Organisers say the bonfire will be lit at 6pm with the display following shortly after at 6.30pm.

Snacks and hot drinks are available and tickets cost 2 for adults and 1 for children.
