A new character has hit the streets of Worksop. Wanda is the latest Bassetlaw Belle to be unveiled by Stagecoach East Midlands.
The Bassetlaw Belles, so-called because of the 50s-style characters emblazoned on each vehicle, are a group of buses connecting Worksop, Retford, Doncaster, Gainsborough and villages across the Bassetlaw area.
Different communities have their own bus including Ruby the Retford Belle, Maria the Mattersey Belle and Betty the Bawtry Belle. Between them, they cover local bus services 21, 22, 25, 27, 29, 42, 43, 95, 97, 98 and 99.
After the success of the original 12 Belles launched earlier this year, Stagecoach East Midlands ran a competition for drivers to name a new Belle and give her an occupation.
Lynn Khan, a driver in Worksop, won the competition by suggesting the new Belle be named Wanda and that her occupation should be a nurse.
Wanda runs on services 4, 22, 25, 42 and 43 which all connect with the hospital.
Andy Smith, commercial manager South for Stagecoach East Midlands, said: “The Bassetlaw Belles have been a great hit so we’re delighted to unveil a new Belle for Worksop.”
