THERE will be toe-tapping fun guaranteed with Blyth Players’ latest production this month - and we have tickets to give away.

Stepping Out promises to entertain audiences of all ages when it cames to Barnby Memorial Hall in Blyth from Thursday 11th to Saturday 13th October.

The warm and funny play, written by Richard Harris and directed by Barry Pickwell and Andrew Robinson, takes a look at the lives, laughs and loves of a group of nine women and one man who attend a weekly dance class.

Choreographed by Jeanette Adams, the play introduces us to an array of characters, including ex-professional dance Mavis who runs the class, cheerful Sylvia (Tracey Priest), snobby but well-meaning Vera (Judith Earle) and the formidable pianist Mrs Fraser (Zena Robinson). They are joined by shy and indecisive Geoffrey - played by George Earle.

Production choreographer Jeanette Adams, who also plays Mavis in the show, said the team have been working hard perfecting the dance routines for the past year.

“Some people had never tapped danced before so it was quite a challenge. We’ve had a lot of fun rehearsing and are really looking forward to bringing the show to audiences this October,” she said.

She added: “It’s a great comedy with both serious and funny moments.”

“It’s mainly about getting to know the characters and audiences will soon realise that all is not as it seems.”

Jeanette, who has been with Blyth Players since 1994, said being a member is a great and rewarding experience.

“I have loved performing and directing shows, and it’s very rewarding to work with the youth section,” she said.

The Players are looking forward to celebrating their 40th anniversary this winter, with a special party in November welcoming members past and present.

Said Jeanette: “W e are always looking for new members for on stage and behind the scenes - call 07784 916250 or email
