The May meeting of the Worksop W I was the resolutions meeting. This is held each year and members voted to support the two resolutions put forward by The National Federation of Women’s Institutes. The first resolution concerned the care and support for dementia sufferers, when admitted to hospital for any reason and the second supported the reduction of food waste by supermarkets. The arguments for and against both topics were very clearly presented by Jane Jefferson, the Chairman of the Nottinghamshire Federation. The meeting was also attended by Chris and Margaret, from Gifts and Greetings, who tempted us with an array of items for sale.

Refreshments this afternoon took the form of a cream tea with delicious scones made by members. (It wouldn’t be W I without tea and cake.)

Following this, Helen Crowder the ACWW Representative explained some of the work and projects carried out by this charity to help Women of the World.

The next meeting will be on June 2, and we will be entertained by one of our own members, Arlene Bull and her husband Peter, who will let us into the mysteries of Bee Keeping. Anyone wishing to attend will be made very welcome, so do pop along at 1.45pm on Thursday, June 2. For further information, contact Averil Ley telephone number 01909 482918.
