The latest concert for Tickhill Music Society featured a performnace from a talented duo Mark Willetts and Danielle Saxon Reeves – together knwon as Dodici Corde – playing traditional and classical guitars.

The firs thalf featured Concerto Grosso No.6 by Corelli, followed by a three-movement sonata by Christian Gottlieb Seidler.

The second half began with Vivaldi favourite Winter Op.8 No.4 whose icy harmonies were well captured. Two pieces by Ferdinando Carulli were followed by a carol by the French composer Adolphe Adam and, finally, Franz Gruber’s Silent Night.

This was a concert of subtle intimacy and gentle sensitivity which was soothing to the spirit.

The two performers blended beautifully and their evident enjoyment of the music was most pleasing to see.
