Residents wanting some festive fun are urged to book now if they want to enjoy Mansfield’s Christmas panto.

Stars of the Mansfield Palace Theatre production of Peter Pan – including Coronation Street star Marc Baylis and Nick Jr’s Holly Atterton – were in town and in costume to officially launch the show and urge people to get their tickets now.

A spokeswoman for the Leeming Street venue said: “It’s that time of year again, oh, yes it is.

“Following our phenomenally successful run of pantomimes, we are delighted to advise that you can book for what is anticipated to be another Christmas hit – Peter Pan.

“Last year’s Aladdin reached a staggering 94 per cent sold, with just more than 31,000 people enjoying all the fun and merriment of a Palace panto.

“This year’s festive fun is also set to be another Christmas cracker.”

Marc, best known as Corrie bad boy Rob Donovan, is embarking on his third panto, although it will be his first time playing villain Captain Hook.

The 39-year-old, whose Corrie character is currently in jail for the murder of Tina McIntyre, said: “I’m good at being bad.

“Captain Hook has always been one of my favourite villains, so I’m very much looking forward to playing him this year in Mansfield.

“It’s going to be great fun.”

Appearing as Tinker Bell is Holly Atterton, who appears on children’s TV channel Nick Jr in The Go! Go! Go! Show

Holly, who is no stranger to North Nottinghamshire having lived in Worksop for a period while performing with one of the UK’s leading Abba tribute bands, said: “I’m really looking forward to Go! Go! Go!-ing to Neverland with the wonderful families of Mansfield that my bandmate Gemma Naylor, who played Jasmine in Aladdin last year, spoke so highly of.”

Joining the pair on stage are Adam Moss and Jessica Punch, who are no strangers to Mansfield,

For Adam, who plays Smee, it is a return to Mansfield after appearing as Silly Billy in Sleeping Beauty two years ago.

And Jessica is reprising her role as the title character, having played Peter Pan at the Palace Theatre five years ago.

Peter Pan is on at Mansfield Palace Theatre, Leeming Street, from Saturday, November 26, until Saturday, December 31.

Tickets are now on sale, priced from £15,50 for adults and £14 for children – all tickets on the opening day are £10.
