Lincolnshire’s Elliott Morris will form part of a huge line-up at this year’s Walesby Forest Festival – a brand new weekend festival nestled amongst the trees of Sherwood Forest in Nottinghamshire.

Half English and half Scottish, Elliott was born in Swindon and lived in Wales until the age of 11, when his family moved to Lincolnshire.

It was on Lincoln’s music scene where Elliott cut his teeth with one of his first solo shows coming at the Lincoln Folk Festival in 2007.

He has built a formidable reputation as one of the most sought-after young artists on the acoustic scene.

In 2013, he was presented with a popular Danny Kyle Award from Celtic Connections festival in Glasgow.

Elliott’s original compositions marry complex guitar lines with heartfelt, honest vocals, combining elements of folk, roots, jazz and country.

Embracing the traditional and the contemporary, his sound has been described as ‘folk music for the 21st Century’.

Between October 2013 and April 2015, Elliott supported the legendary Paul Carrack on two UK tours, alongside performing solo slots at Celtic Connections.

He also played many UK summer festivals including the Cambridge Folk Festival, Hop Farm and the Towersey Festival.

With a string of solo EPs, Elliott has gained considerable air play with enormous support from the BBC, and commercial and community channels across the country.

He has played many BBC Introducing slots and has featured in Acoustic Magazine as ‘The Next Big Thing’.

“I can’t wait to play at the first Walesby Forest Festival,” he said.

It’s a huge line up to be a part of – and the settings are beautiful.”

“We’re really excited to launch Walesby Forest Festival at Sherwood Forest and are delighted to have Elliott on board,” said Damien Barber, the fesitval’s creative director.

“A full programme of entertainment and events is currently being finalised, and is guaranteed to excite visitors of all ages.”

Joining WElliott Morris on the bill will be the likes of Rory McLeod, The Willows, The Demon Barbers, Kila, Bagdaddies and Lucy Ward.

The festival runs from 28th-31st August.
