Clumber Park II 194 for 6
Marshalls 221 for 6
On a chilly summer’s day, Marshalls visited Clumber Park and picked up a winning draw.
Marshalls captain Martyn Snell lost the toss and his team was put into bat by the home side.
The visitors lost an opener, Lynton Karkach, early in the innings.
Shaun Metcalfe and Mark Whitlam steadied the ship, showing some much needed patience at the crease. Whitlam played a brilliant anchoring innings of 88 runs to set up a high score for Marshalls.
He was ably supported by Haydn Green who made 48 and played some decent eye catching strokes.
The home side however, did not do themselves any favours by giving away 27 extras in the field and dropping a couple of simple chances.
Clumber’s reply began badly as Abhishek Rampal sent both the openers back into the pavilion in his first spell.
Captain David Taylor and Tom Moore showed some resilience with knocks of 36 and 66 respectively but Green and Snell slowed the run rate down, the spinners working in tandem to increase pressure on the batsmen.
But they managed to see out their 46 overs to stop Marshalls claiming an outright win.
