Welbeck Abbey Bowls Club will take a slight lead into the second leg of their annual match with Mansfield Brewery.

The first leg was hosted by Welbeck, with 16 players from each side in action on Thursday 12th June.

The match was followed by a buffet, provided and organised by Welbeck members.

Welbeck then travelled to Goosemoor Bowls Club to compete against them for the first of two matches, but this time they were on the losing end.

The weekend of 14th and 15th June was the open weekend for Welbeck Village and during the course of the weekend Welbeck Bowls Club were able to have players available to enterain with some good bowling, encouraging the public to try their hand.

On Friday 20th Welbeck went to Mansfield Bowls Club to compete in the annual cup match between the two sides.

Welbeck lost this leg but will hope to do better in the return match.

The Walter Anderson Cup took place on Sunday 22nd June.

This event is held in honour of Walter Anderson, a keen bowler and supporter of Welbeck, and the late husband of Jean Anderson.

Jean keeps in close touch with the club and can usually be found at the club on match days, helping out with the refreshments.

This match is a pairs competition on a knockout basis and pairs are drawn are random.
