WORKSOP’S Olympic javelin hopeful Tesni Ward is hoping to unearth the next generation of local sporting talent through some coaching sessions next week.

The 19-year-old is ranked in the top four senior women javelin throwers in the UK and has represented Great Britain, but it all began with the Worksop Harriers.

On Monday, she’s hoping to pay the club back for the investment they made in her career.

“Worksop Harriers was the first club I joined,” she said.

“They introduced me into the athletics world and without them I would not be where I am now.”

“I want to give something back to my local community and club, for what they did for me.”

Sheffield Hallam University student Tesni will host a training and coaching session at Manton Athletic Club at 5pm on Monday.

The session is open for anyone, of any age, who wants to try athletics.

“It would be great to see some more budding athletes from Worksop make their way through the UK ranks,” she added.
