ANGLING mad pupils from Valley have won the schools national championships for the fourth consecutive year.

Youngsters Liam Ainsworth, Lewis Robinson, Robbie Moore, Dean Northage and Oliver Hipkiss took gold at the annual event at Retford’s Hallcroft Fisheries.

The five boys competed against 20 other teams in cool overcast conditions, with a lot of good catches and more recorded than last year.

Barnsley’s Carlton Community College came second and Dinnington Comprehensive - consisting of Jack Cardwell, Reece Kiernan, Joe Bird, Luke Tongue and Thomas Kirkham - took bronze.

Valley were back in the medals with two competitors from the school winning their sections.

Lewis Robinson retained his individual title for the second year running, with an outstanding winning weight of 14.580kg.

All the competitors had a really enjoyable day fishing and the rain kept at bay until after the presentations.
