In only his second outing in the Swift Sport Championship, Retford teenager Jake Taylor took sixth place at the home of rallycross, Lydden Hill.
Taylor lined up in a bumper 16-car field, in his Autopoint prepared Suzuki Swift.
Things didn’t go initially to plan, as the youngster experienced steering issues in his first heat and finished 11th overall.
The second heat saw a good start and a strong finish which helped him to take third, and eighth overall.
Heat three had Taylor start from the back of the grid, and his hard work was rewarded, maintaining his eighth overall place, which was enough to earn him pole position in the B-Final.
Through sheer dogged determination and his driving talent the young Taylor picked up his first final win which earned him a final place in the A-Final.
Starting from the back row of the Grid in the A-Final is hard at the best of times.
And a spin on the long loose section cost him places.
But he managed to claw his way back to take sixth place overall.
A delighted Taylor said: “It was an incredible event at Lydden Hill BRX, I’m very happy with my performance.”
“It was a great feeling to win the B final although I was aware there was a tough job ahead in the A final.”
“Sixth place overall out of 16 entrants is great amongst the strong competition.”
Wallrock-sponsored Taylor paid tribute to his backers for their help at Lydden Hill.
“The guys at Autopoint SE did a brilliant job supporting me and getting the car 100 per cent ready for each heat,” he said.
“I was totally overwhelmed by the support on the day from everyone.”
