Retford and District Wheeler Ollie Lord has completed his final preparations for the Outlaw IRON Distance Triathlon at Holme Pierrepont this weekend.

Participating last weekend in the Outlaw Triathlon at Burton Waters, Lincoln, Lord was on good form for the three disciplines.

He recorded times of 6minutes 31 seconds for the 400 metre swim; 42.09 for the 22 kilometre bike ride and 21.14 for the five kilometre run.

His performances saw him finish in a very creditable 32nd place out of a field of 498 competitors on the start sheet.

In the IRON event, Lord – also a member of the Retford Athletics Club – is hoping to complete the 2.5 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride and 26.2 mile run in under 13 hours and is raising money through sponsorship for charity.

Anyone wishing to sponsor his efforts can do so at his online giving page, found at uk.virginmoneygiving.com/OllieLord

The Retford Wheelers club run this Sunday will be to the Humber Bridge; a popular ride of about 120 miles over fairly flat terrain with two cafe stops.

Riders should meet in Retford market square at the earlier time of 8am.

Experienced guest riders welcome.
